Computer Technician

Corporate Services Division

Based at Head Office

Salary: R369,055- R500,061 (per annum inclusive of benefits)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A+ PC engineering, A+ N+ Network Engineering


  • relevant National Diploma (NQF 6) in Computer Science, Information Technology, etc.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Qualification
  • Degree (NQF 7) in Computer Science, Information Technology, etc.

 Minimum Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience as a Computer Technician in a corporate environment

 Key Outputs:

Reporting to the ICT OPS Specialist, the employee will:

  • Control hardware and software in a manner that reduces the number and duration of support calls
  • Support all hardware desktops, laptops, iPad and other peripheral devices e.g. printers
  • Install and configure authorised software packages on end-user computers
  • Track ICT equipment by labelling and recording of information including location
  • Perform preventative maintenance on client computers and other ICT equipment
  • Maintain and monitor IT security mechanisms
  • Reinstate passwords and facilitate the password maintenance procedures
  • Monitor Network status
  • Notify the ICT Ops Specialist in the event of network downtime and initiate communication with external parties, where necessary
  • Provide and co-ordinate end-user training to allow better use of computer equipment
  • Provide training courses for all standard desktop software and other specified packages/modules. e.g. MS Office, O365, client backup and recovery tools and ERP system
  • Report on activities and performance
  • Compile and submit activity monthly reports by due dates

 Other requirements needed

  • Strong knowledge of Windows configuration
  • Hardware repairs and troubleshooting experience
  • Good communication skills and the ability to maintain professionalism in demanding situations
  • Proactive approach to ICT solutions
  • Strong commitment to work and a corresponding ability to work overtime as and when required
  • Valid unendorsed Drivers Licence
  • Effective time management
  • Both telephonic and interactive end-user support experience
