Amatola Water was called to intervene in Makana's water crisis last year. After AW pulled out of Makana due R40 million in debt. Has this debt been paid? and under what mandate was AW brought back to Makana to intervene in the managing the infrastructure?

Makana Local Municipality is currently servicing its debt, through a mutually accepted payment plan. In March 2019, Amatola Water was commissioned by the Office of the Premier, to intervene at Makana Local Municipality, for a 4 month period, which ended in July 2019.

There has been reports that Makana had been using severely damaged, often very old, water supply infrastructure before AW intervened. What was the infrastructure like when Amatola intervened?
