Amatola Water welcomes three new board members

The former Minister, Mr Gugile Nkwinti, appointed the new board for Amatola Water.  This is subsequent to three board members who resigned as board members at Amatola Water Board. The three newly appointed board members are replacing the board members vacancies that had been existing.  The Board now is functioning with full structure.

The new board members are boasting impressive names, including Mr Ayanda Wakaba, Ms Amanda Magwentshu and Ms Nonkululeko Nyakaza, they are highly experienced with vast experience on issues of governance. Below is the summary of the newly appointed three board members résumé: 

MR AYANDA WAKABA

 

Ayanda Wakaba is a seasoned independent governance practitioner with over fifteen years in governance backed by 18 years of experience in executive management. He holds a number of chairmanship and membership positions in public sector governance structures and considers himself a champion in good governance

Among the governance roles he holds, is the role of Chairperson for the Audit Committee of the National Department of Small Business Development and for the Group Performance Audit Committee of the City of Johannesburg. In the City of Johannesburg and Group Performance Audit Committee role, Mr Wakaba leads the provision of advisory and oversight services over the City of Johannesburg group institutional performance management function, a role that includes performance oversight over the municipal entities such as Johannesburg Water, City Power, Johannesburg Development Agency, etc. 

Ayanda has held executive management roles including:

  • CEO of a District Municipal Development Agency
  • CEO of a Municipal Management Consulting Services Entity
  • COO of a National Social Infrastructure Delivery Agency.

He holds an accounting, auditing, finance and business management educational background and has a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), Honours: Bachelor of Accounting Sciences, an Advanced Diploma in Accounting Sciences, and a Master of Business Management and Administration (MBA) degree. He is a member of the Institute of Directors for Southern Africa.

MS AMANDA PATEKA MAGWENTSHU

Amanda Magwentshu

Ms Amanda Pateka Magwentshu, is a Member of Human Resources and Remuneration Committee (HRRC), Member of Board (non-executive member).  She is currently employed as the Managing Director at A M Business Solutions (Pty) LTD.  She has skills in Human Resource Management and Governance.  Her affiliations and membership are as follows, South African Board for People Practices (SABPP), Member of Mhlontlo Local Municipality Audit & Risk Committee, Member of Mnquma Local Municipality Audit & Risk Committee.

They are well seasoned in different areas of governance which is the most key element in running the organisation.  They will impart their skills attained in their journey of experience to the employees of Amatola Water.  Amatola Water welcomes their appointment.

MS NONKULULEKO NYAKAZA

Nonkululeko Nyakaza

Ms Nonkululeko Nyakaza is a SOX Manager at AngloGold Ashanti with experience in both public and private sector. She also serves as the audit committee member for PSETA. Her technical experience includes financial management, corporate governance, audit and risk management and compliance.

The Chairperson of the Board, Ms Nokulunga Mnqeta, said “We welcome the appointment of the new three board members. I am quite adamant that the board will work together in achieving the goals of the organisation.
