Based at Mthatha and East London

Salary Package: R 440, 513.91- R 518 908.05 per annum

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (with Math and Science) or N3
  • Grade 12 and National Certificate (N2)
  • Trade test certificate (Compulsory)

Preferred Qualifications:

    • N3 qualification and Trade Test

Minimum Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience as a Millwright gained in the water industry (water & sanitation)

Key Outputs:

Reporting to the Foreman, the employee will:

  • Maintain all mechanical and electrical plant, equipment and buildings
  • Perform routine and breakdown maintenance on various electrical equipment, plant or buildings to minimise outage time
  • Ensure that relevant defects and work requests are attended to promptly to minimise outage time
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining an adequate safety regime
  • Make sure all electrical plant and equipment is in safe condition before commencing any work on them
  • Report accidents/incidents
  • Perform supervisory duties
  • Monitor the performance of subordinates
  • Provide advice and direction on daily operational duties

Other Requirements:

  • General Operational and Maintenance experience in electrical and mechanical fields
  • Operation and maintenance of water purification and distribution equipment
  • Sound knowledge of single and 3 phase electrical motors
  • Sound knowledge in the operation and maintenance of HV motors and switchgear
  • Sound knowledge of pumps, motors and valves
  • Valid unendorsed Code 08 driver’s licence
  • MV Regulations
  • OHS Act
  • Computer literacy
