Minimum Qualifications:
- LLB Degree, Admission as an Attorney
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience post admission experience in commercial contract drafting, corporate law, property law and commercial litigation, compliance management, debt recovery and public finance management legislation. Previous experience in banking and/or development finance environment would be advantageous.
Key Outputs:
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the appointee will:
- Review, appoint and manage Panel of Attorneys
- Monitor and evaluate progress on litigation matters
- Determine legal expense budget and limit legal expenditure
- Provides legal advice to management and staff by:
- Conduct factual problem and dispute analysis through consultations
- Assess cogency and reliability of available evidence and burden of proof
- Draft contracts to minimise Amatola Water risks whilst meeting the business goals of the organisation
- Provide contract negotiation support to internal departments
- Vet all legal documents and contracts proposed by third party and provide feedback to Develop frameworks for conclusion of major commercial transactions arising from finance, development properties and development services
- Analyse major commercial proposals in development finance and property development
- management on risks and legal concerns
- Assist management in incorporating legal changes in workflow and documentation
- Review and recommend changes to policies to mitigate risk
- Develop policies where policies are non-existent and required to meet business requirements
- Provide filing and retrieval system for all company policies and amendments thereof
- Attend various meetings/committees to provide guidance and input to assist business developments and decision making
- Lead and/or partake in projects where legal knowledge and/or knowledge of Amatola Water is required to meet project goals
- Communicate and allocate departmental objectives to staff
- Ensure staffing levels are adequate to meet departmental objectives
- Oversee the effective collection of loans and arrear rentals handed over for legal recovery
- Oversee the closure of all accounts and the release of securities
