Total Guaranteed Package: R 1,263,179.53 Per Annum inclusive of benefits

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems

 

Added advantage:

  • Formal management qualification e.g. MDP, SMDP, etc.
  • ITIL, COBIT, CISA, CGEIT

 

Minimum Experience :

  • 8 years of related experience in a corporate IT department with management exposure to both networking, security, and software development
  • 5 years of management experience
  • 3 years of experience in Project Management
  • Understanding of business processes and experience in re-engineering processes
  • Knowledge of Microsoft environment
  • Sound understanding of business processes

 

Key Outputs:

Reporting to the Executive Manager: Corporate Services, the employee will:

  • Review organisational goals and objectives and establish IT Strategy in-line with these to ensure alignment and co-ordinated effort
  • Review IT trends and Amatola Water business needs and objectives to create IT Strategy in-line with the business
  • Review and keep up-to-date the relevant policies, procedure and Terms of References
  • Provide leadership, strategic direction and management for the IT Department
  • Conduct strategic planning session for the departments considering business needs and action the corporate scorecard and set goals for the ICT department
  • Draft and finalise appropriate Policies and Procedures, obtain the required approval and ensure policies and procedures adhered to
  • Provide appropriate reliable IT infrastructure and services to internal customers allowing them to focus on their core competencies
  • Oversee and manage the Local Area Network and Wide Area Network, by providing secure access to the network for local and remote users
  • Ensure that the windows server system, primary file, print servers, exchange server, proxy server and SQL servers are configured properly
  • Oversee business analysis and process review functions to refine business processes and enhance efficiency with the development of new and existing systems
  • Analyse departments needs and identify opportunities to increase productivity by utilising available technology
  • Review appropriate major business processes recommending and implementing improvements as appropriate and ensuring the documenting of these processes
  • Perform project manager role on large IT projects and oversee project management on small and medium projects
  • Oversee the project management of small and medium IT Projects
  • Negotiate proposals, scope and deliverables on major projects
  • Direct training of end users to increase efficiency and develop Amatola Water staff
  • Oversee IT training function to ensure development of IT training schedules and implementation of training as per schedules
  • Ensure the necessary collaboration with the Human Resource Department on External IT Training
  • Manage all resources of the unit
  • Manage, motivate and develop staff including setting KPI’s and conducting performance reviews
  • Set, agree and monitor performance of staff, check that it is aligned with planned targets

 

Other requirements needed:

  • Maintain knowledge and skill base in the changing IT environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to negotiate
  • Valid unendorsed drivers’ licence
  • Lateral thinker
  • Business acumen and business process knowledge

 

Preferences

  • Experience in computer programming
  • Experience with BAAN or similar ERP system
  • Conflict Management skills
  • Good presentation skills
