Salary: R 453,445 - R 584,527 TCTC
Minimum Qualifications:
- NTC III in Water or Wastewater Treatment practice (3 years’ service)
Preferred Qualification:
- Relevant Water Care Diploma as per legal requirement in terms of 2834 of the Water Act of 1956 or Draft Regulation 813
Minimum Experience:
- Class III Process Controller with 3 year relevant experience
Key Outputs:
Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, the appointee will:
- Control the Water Treatment Process and Infrastructure to ensure effective operation of plants, associated system to provide a reliable water supply, to improve the efficiency of plants and equipment and to minimise the cost of production
- Minimise business risk by ensuring that AW meet SANS 241 Quality Water (Treatment) Standards
- Identify and monitor water losses in the plant and network
- Validate that infrastructure, WTW/WWTW and equipment operate to specified standards to meet demands
- Maintain communications with customers and set service levels agreements to maintain adequate service levels
- Operate in compliance with statutory requirements to promote the health of consumers, customers and operations employees
- Manage financial resources to maximise capital productivity, minimise operating costs and provide value for money to the end consumer
- Maintain and improve motivation and performance of staff to achieve maximum productivity
- Achieve world class Safety, Health and Environmental standards by ensuring full compliance to OHS act and relevant environmental legislation
- Give information to specialist organisations and other authorities to promote vision and mission of Amatola Water
- Provide the supervisor with consistent feedback and information on any problems, value add or queries related to chemicals, process materials, services etc. to be discussed with stakeholders/suppliers/customers
- Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions as given by the line manager/supervisor within the ambit of the position taking into consideration competencies and operational requirements
Competencies:
- Good Industrial Relations skills
- Computer Literacy – spreadsheets, word processing
- Good knowledge of OHS Act and safety management
- Good working knowledge of SCADA monitoring and data analysis
- Good technical knowledge of chemicals, water quality instruments, goods handling, safety awareness
- Good understanding of water balancing
- Basic understanding of budgets and cost control
- Basic Monitoring and Reporting skills
- Basic Incident investigation and reporting skills
- Valid unendorsed driver’s license
- Broad technical understanding
