Based at Nahoon Dam
Salary range: R320 330 – R436 928 (per annum inclusive of benefits)
Minimum Qualifications:
• Grade 12
• National Certificate (N2 Civils)
• Trade test certificate - Building
Preferred Qualifications:
• N3 qualification
Minimum Experience:
• 3 years (post trade test) general building experience
• 1 year at supervisory level
KEY OUTPUTS
Reporting to the Supervisor Building Works, the appointee will:
• Perform routine maintenance on various civil installations to ensure smooth flow of water and avoid loss of water
• Perform construction of new buildings and alterations as per given specifications and drawings
• Inspect equipment/building to ensure all equipment/building are in good condition before using them
• Monitor that all applicable regulations and safety rules of both the OSH ACT and Amatola Water are obeyed and applied to minimise accidents and incidents
• Specify the correct and approved parts for the equipment to prevent re-occurring of equipment failure
• Monitor Safe keeping and running of Amatola pool vehicle to prevent accidents and misuse thereof
• Assist supervisor in appraising and counselling staff formally, when required for ever increasing performance outputs
• Communicate information, decisions and regulations to staff and facilitate upward communication to minimise misunderstandings
Other Requirements:
• Valid unendorsed driver’s license
• Knowledge of the OHS Act
• Sound knowledge of maintenance and safety systems (i.e. safety requirements & standards as per OHS Act)
• Ability to operate a variety of equipment including hand and power tools
