Salary package CTC: R576 329 – R779 740 (per annum inclusive of benefits)

Minimum Qualifications:
- National Diploma in Quality Management/Chemistry, Microbiology or Biochemistry
Minimum Experience:
- 5 years as a Laboratory Technician / Technologist in a water / wastewater environment
- 5 years ISO 17025 experience
- 2 years working experience in a Quality Management System and Client Service environment
- Supervisory experience of at least 3 years
- Trained in internal auditing and statistical quality control methods
Key Outputs:
Reporting to the Scientific Services Manager the appointee will:
- Control the ISO 17025 quality management system to ensure that the Laboratory outputs are in accordance with the requirements of standard and GLP (Good Laboratory Practices
- Assume final authority on all matters relating to the QMS with only Manager: Scientific Services having vetoing powers, as per ISO 17025
- Develop the quality management strategy and plans to ensure integration with the organisation’s annual business plan and long-term strategy
- Ensure that the laboratory processes and ISO 17025 quality management systems is aligned with the overall objectives of Amatola Water’s IMS
- Manage existing and new customers to ensure that AW Scientific Services remains the preferred lab for conducting water testing around the Eastern Cape.
- Ensure that routine testing samples are scheduled, and resampling is conducted within required turnaround times
- Conduct quarterly plant visits to assist plant supervisor and operators with instrument calibrations and verifications for sampling and quality management purposes
- Monitor the use of vehicles allocated to the Sampling Officers to prevent and minimise the misuse thereof
- Review costs of services in conjunction with Manager and update price list and inform clients
- Provide client support concerning the appropriate processes/procedures of any requests regarding sampling, login, reporting and billing activities
- Attend to the training needs and skills development for all laboratory staff with regards to ISO 17025 requirements in conjunction with the Training Department
- Identify activities and requirements of the section to assist with multi-skilling
Other requirements:
- Statistical Quality Control competency
- Computer Literacy, i.e. MS Office and Integrated Laboratory Software System
- Valid unendorsed drivers licence
Preferences:
- Working knowledge of a Quality Management System
- LABWARE LIMS
- SACNASP registration
