Based at Nahoon Dam Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Civil / Chemical Engineering
- Formal management qualification, i.e. SMP or equivalent
- Project management qualification
- Class V Operator Certificate
Preferred Qualification
- Post graduate qualification in Civil / Chemical Engineering
Professional Registration
- Pr PC Water registration with WISA
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum 10 years management experience in a water environment which includes water plant design/upgrades or process control related to purification works
- Project Management experience Experience in design and process engineering
Key Outputs:
Reporting to the Executive Manager: Operations, the appointee will:
- Develop business plans for both primary and RoU, namely waterworks, dams and associated systems to provide a reliable water supply, to improve the efficiency of the works and assets and to minimise the cost of production
- Oversee the upgrade of capacity and efficiency of water production infrastructure to maximise capital productivity, minimise operating costs and provide value for money to the end consumer
- Maintain communications with customers and set service levels agreements to maintain adequate service levels
- Develop Water Safety Plans in all the water supply systems to ensure reliable water supply and safe drinking water to meet blue/green drop status
- Manage business risk by ensuring that Amatola Water meets SANS 241 Water Treatment Standards
- Operate in compliance with statutory requirements to address 100% of Operational Risk
- Ensure general maintenance of the water services infrastructure by overseeing the Maintenance key performance areas
- Provide technical and engineering support to the organisation
- Oversee safety and health management to ensure that all operations meet the statutory requirements to minimise accidents and incidents by overseeing the functions of the operations
- Manage Financial Resources
- Oversee Human Resources within Operations
Other requirements needed:
- Good Industrial Relations skills
- Computer Literacy
- Good knowledge of OHS Act
- General conditions of engineering contracts
- Valid unendorsed driver’s licence
- Good people management skills
