AMATOLA WATER BOARD YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES 2021/22 FINANCIAL YEAR
Amatola Water is an essential services utility operating in the water sector in the Eastern Cape. Amatola Water was established in terms of the Water Services Act (Act 108 of 1997) and is accountable to the Minister of Water and Sanitation as its executive authority.
1. INTERNSHIPS
The Amatola Water based in East London is offering an internship programme as part of its contribution to skills development initiatives as expressed in the National Skills Development Plan 2030 objectives by inviting unemployed graduates to participate in a 12 months internship programme. The programme will afford the interns with much needed and valuable work based experience and enhance opportunities towards employment prospects. Applicants must be unemployed graduates from institutions accredited by Council of Higher Education with the following qualifications/ study area:

Requirements
The applicants must not have been exposed to work experience in their area of study or have participated in an internship programme before. Interested candidates should forward their recently updated CV’s accompanied by the following documentation:
• Covering letter quoting the office that one is applying for.
• Certified South African ID copy
• Certified Matric Certificate
• Certified copy of qualification certificate or letter confirming the completion of the qualification from the institution of Higher Learning
• Certified Academic record with Modules completed
In the event that the above are not attached then the applicant will be disqualified.
In addition applicants must be:
• South African citizen
• Unemployed graduates between age of 18-35
• Available for placement within the East London vicinity
• And People living with disability are encouraged to apply
2. LEARNERSHIP IN WATER AND WASTEWATER PROCESS CONTROL: NQF LEVEL 3
Amatola Water (AW) invites applications for the Water and Wastewater Process Control Learnership programme, which seeks to capacitate five (5) unemployed youth. Preference will be given to persons from previously disadvantaged communities and unemployed youth who meets the following requirements:
• A minimum educational qualifications of Grade 12 with Mathematics/ Maths literacy
• Between 18-35 years of age.
Successful candidates will be expected to enter into a 12 months’ contract with AW. On completion, learners will receive a Certificate of Competence in Water and Wastewater Process Control (NQF Level 3).
3. APPRENTICESHIP INTAKE IN OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATE: ELECTRICIAN – SAQA ID 91761 –OFO CODE 671101 – NQF LEVEL 4
Amatola Water (AW) invites applications for the Electrician Apprenticeship programme, which seeks to capacitate five (5) unemployed youth with knowledge and skills in Electricity. Preference will be given to persons from previously disadvantaged communities and unemployed youth who meets the following requirements
• A full seven subject Grade 12 (Matric) with good results in Mathematics and Physical Science, or N3 qualification inclusive of
applicable related subjects such as Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Mechanical Technology etc.
• Between 18-35 years of age.
Successful candidates will be expected to enter into a 36 months contract with AW, on successful completion of the trade test, learners will receive a Certificate of Competence as Electrician NQF Level 4. Please forward a cv, certified id copy and matric certificate.
CONDITIONS
These appointments will be finalized in accordance with Amatola Water’s Employment Equity Plan and Recruitment Policy. Preference will be given to suitably qualified persons from designated groups particularly women and people living with disabilities. A monthly stipend will be provided to all appointed candidates.
