Minimum Qualifications:
•    B.Sc./BTech in Chemistry, Water Care or Equivalent
 
Preferred Educational level:
•    B.Sc. (Hons) majoring in Chemistry
 
Minimum Experience:
•    At least 7 years laboratory experience (as a Senior Laboratory Technician / Technologist), of which 4 years in a
      water environment
•    ISO17025 Laboratory Systems Course
•    Knowledge of LIMS
•    Trained and experienced in the following instruments: ICP-OES, TOC, Aquakem, Titration Systems
•    Knowledge of water standards and guidelines
•    Statistical Quality Control techniques
•    Supervisory Experience – 5 years
 
KEY OUTPUTS
Reporting to the Manager: Scientific Services, the appointee will:
•    Provide technical oversight and co-ordination of the chemistry laboratory
•    Analyse laboratory results to initiate problem solving and corrective action routines and timeously provide services
      according to agreed service levels to clients
•    Research co-ordination and method development
•    Co-ordinate research activities in the laboratory
•    Assist with Compiling & Controlling the Scientific Services Budget to minimise operating costs and provide value for
      money service to the end consumer
•    Determine cost structure in conjunction with Scientific Services Manager
•    Manage and develop staff
•    Communicate designated staff responsibilities, authority and personal performance measurement criteria
•    Compile reports and action departmental findings
•    Review scientific files/records and prepare review notes, to resolve scientific development matters that were not
      completely addressed by Senior Technicians
 
Other Requirements:
•    Communication skills
•    Computer literacy, i.e. MS Office and Integrated Laboratory Software System
•    Valid unendorsed driver’s license
