PMU Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree/ BTech Degree in Built Environment or Equivalent NQF Level 7 Qualification.

• Formal Qualification in Project Management

Preferred Qualifications:

• Honours Degree in Built Environment

Professional Registration:

• Professional Registration either as Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Professional Engineering

Technologist (Pr. Tech Eng.) with ECSA

• Registered as Professional Construction Project Manager (Pr. CPM) with SACPCMP

Minimum Experience:

• Proven track record of at least 8 years in a managerial position, in a project management environment

Key Outputs:

Reporting to the Executive Manager: Planning & Development, the appointee will:

• Implement management decisions within a multi-disciplinary team by applying high-level knowledge

regarding the engineering / construction industry for attainment of corporate objectives

• Implement technical decisions within a multi-disciplinary team by applying high-level engineering

knowledge and skills for attainment of functional objectives

• Oversee specialist consultants by technical briefings and overseeing of technical designs, drawings,

specifications and tender documentation to ensure that projects are designed according to operational

requirements

• Oversee Contractors by applying project quality procedures to confirm that construction is done

according to predetermined specifications

• Provide input into infrastructure OPEX and CAPEX budgets by applying industry knowledge and project

costing skills to ensure that construction of projects will be done to enable

Amatola Water to increase their market share

• Oversee Contractual Compliance in all projects by ensuring adherence to Amatola Water Policies and Procedures

• Administer project cost control systems by applying project administration skills to ensure that Amatola Water conforms to the Public Finance Management Act

• Manage in-house project team by applying design knowledge, management skills and technical assistance to ensure that resources are utilised cost effectively

• Oversee projects by applying project-planning skills to allocate resources to relevant projects

• Staff Management

• Administer engineering services and construction contracts

• Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions as given by the line manager/supervisor within the ambit of the position taking into consideration competencies and operational   requirements

Other Requirements:

• Computer literacy

• Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills

• Excellent report writing skills

• Valid unendorsed drivers licence

• In depth knowledge of the OHS Act, Environmental Act, PFMA

• Knowledge of Supply Chain Management Processes

• Good knowledge of working in a political environment

• Good overall knowledge of the water industry

• Sound financial management skills
