SHE Officer
Based at Nahoon Dam
Operations Division
Salary: R537,208 (per annum inclusive of benefits)
Minimum Qualifications:
• Grade 12 and National Diploma: Safety Management (NQF 6) or equivalent
Preferred Qualification:
• B Tech: Safety Management (NQF 7) or equivalent
• Nebosh General International Certificate
Professional Registration:
• Registration with SACPCMP (South African Council for Project and Construction Management) as a Construction
Health and Safety Officer (CHSO)
Minimum Experience:
• Three years’ Safety Health and Environmental practice experience
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ management system (i.e. ISO 9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 systems, applicable
codes of practice and relevant legislation)
• SAMTRAC training
• SHE Auditors Course
• SHE Risk Assessment Training
Key Outputs:
Reporting to the SHEQ Specialist, the appointee will:
• Assist with identification of hazard and risk in order to facilitate effective risk reduction plans and actions
• Continuously identify and assess the SHE risks that exist in the organisation in order to have an updated holistic
SHE risks profile
• Maintain Amatola Water’s Integrated System in order to manage the SHE risks in the business
• Participate in internal and external SHE system audits to test for compliance to legal and other requirements
• Promote awareness and understanding of SHE aspects to entrench a SHE culture within the organisation
• Participate in the identification of organisational SHE training needs and the maintenance of a SHE training matrix
• Assist with SHE conformance to legal requirements in order to comply with applicable legislation
• Support the development, review, update and maintenance of SHE Policies, Procedures as well as any other
relevant documents
• Monthly and annual trend analysis and interpretation in order to (1) proactively and systematically reduce the
severity and frequency of SHE incidents (2) conserve resources
• Conduct on onsite inspections and monitoring
• Maintain Emergency Preparedness and Testing
• Maintain SHE document control requirements and ensure adequacy of documents filling, storage and ease of
access
Other Requirements:
• Computer literacy – MS Office
• Valid unendorsed drivers’ licence (regular site visits required)
• Ability to present certain SHE courses
• Ability to conduct SHE audits
• Report writing skills
