Salary: R 455,768.00 - R 628,520.00 (per annum inclusive of benefits)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 • National Certificate (N3 Civils) • Trade test certificate Preferred Qualifications: • National Diploma (Building) Minimum Experience: • At least 5 years post trade test experience gained in the engineering and maintenance environment • 2 years at supervisory level KEY OUTPUTS Reporting to the Senior Civils Technician, the appointee will: • Manage and monitor general inspections of properties, by determining the state of repair of properties/assets, using standard inspection forms • Collaborate with the Maintenance Department regarding monthly planned maintenance • Inspect equipment to ensure all equipment is in good order • Identify projects and actions, which could damage the environment • Identify and ensure all staff are adequately trained with respect to applicable safety regulations to minimise accidents • Ensure that all applicable regulations and safety rules of both the OHS Act and Amatola Water policies are obeyed and applied to minimise accidents and incidents • Develop and control operational and capital expenditure • Motivate and document over-expenditure for accurate expenditure control for OPEX and CAPEX budgets • Ensure that the training needs and skills development plans of contractors are implemented where applicable • Ensure that the training needs and skills development of AW staff • Supervise staff to ensure flow of building work Other Requirements: • Sound knowledge of maintenance and safety systems (i.e. safety requirements and standards as per OHS Act • Good project management skills • Computer literacy – spreadsheets, word processing, presentation skills etc. • Valid unendorsed drivers’ licence • IR Skills • Good communication skills • Good trouble shooting abilities • Basic Budget Control experience • Knowledge of the National Environmental Management Act • Knowledge of contract administration • Knowledge of construction contracts
